The National Human Right Commission joins the rest of the world in commemorating this year’s International Youth Day (IYD). The IYD is commemorated on the 12th of August every year to draw attention to issues that concern young people worldwide.

The Executive Secretary National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Tony Ojukwu Esq has expressed concern over the spate of maltreatments meted out to minors and other categories of vulnerable persons by some members of the society, including their relations who are supposed protect and offer them care and support.

As Nigeria joins the rest of the global community to commemorate the 2020 International Day Against Human Trafficking (IDAHT), the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) calls for the uprooting of the root causes and drivers of trafficking, more sensitization and speedy trial of human trafficking cases so as to tackle the disturbing malaise which is a major violation of human rights.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has condemned in very strong terms the incessant killings and wanton destruction of properties in various communities in Southern Kaduna, Kaduna state and some other parts of the country charging the Police and other law enforcement agencies to sit up and stop the blame game so as to bring the perpetrators to book.
