The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is proud to present the 2024 Human Rights Situation Dashboard Year Overview, capturing key trends and data that defined the human rights landscape in Nigeria over the past year.
In 2024, the NHRC recorded over 2,000,000 complaints of human rights violations. This increase reflects both the growing awareness of human rights among Nigerians and the persistent challenges faced by vulnerable communities.
The year also saw an alarming rise in cases involving the mass killings and abductions, violations of the three freedoms, violations of economic social and cultural rights, and law enforcement and security related violations, all of which underscore the urgent need for systemic reforms to uphold justice and accountability.
Despite these challenges, the NHRC remains committed to its mandate of monitoring, addressing, and resolving human rights complaints. We thank our partners, including the UNDP, OHCHR, and GANHRI, for their continued support in driving this mission forward.
